Abstract

Military intelligence has had an evident impact in history, not only by influencing the outcome of wars and political negotiations, but also in the development of technology in response to the needs presented, for example, in the optimization of more secure methods of communication. In Colombia, the intensity of the armed conflict generated the need to strengthen methods and equipment of the Military Forces, as military intelligence played a fundamental role in the achievement of major operations during the last years, such as Operation Phoenix (2008), Operation Jaque (2008), Operation Chameleon (2010) and Operation Sodom (2010).
