Influence of globalization on the formation of insurgent and fundamentalist groups

Abstract

Globalization is a set of political, cultural, economic, technological and social processes, a phenomenon that has dominated the international system since the second half of the twentieth century. It is one of the characteristics of this, in a process in constant change and contradiction, geo-localization and globalization. Although the international system benefits from this phenomenon, the negative consequences of globalization are part of the world of the 21st century. Thus, the question arises as to how globalization influenced the formation of the Taliban fundamentalist group and the Colombian insurgent groups ELN and FARC. In order to answer the proposed question, this reflection article resorts to the theory of international relations, sociology and political science, academic articles and press, from where it is confronted with the three aforementioned case studies. Finally, it is concluded that the influence of globalization on factors within States is inevitable, and that is why States must foresee international trends that may become a problem.
