Political security in Ecuador: keys to its study
Abstract
This article seeks to investigate the main elements that make up Ecuador's political security, a state commonly associated with instability. In this logic, a series of reflections linked to the country's security, which is closely linked to the political situation, are inserted. This means that any analysis of the security of this nation must take into account political rather than military factors. By virtue of this, this article aims to explore the political security situation in Ecuador in a general way. To this end, it is divided into two parts. The first deals with the main concepts that account for political security, from the perspective of political science and international security theories. Secondly, a brief analysis is made of the most recent threat to political security in Ecuador with the attempted coup d'état against Rafael Correa.
