Missile crisis of 1962: genesis of the changes in the determinations in the International System.
Abstract
In 1962, the international system was confronted with the Cuban missile crisis. This juncture brought the power states to a level of tension, in which the decisions of each of them could have meant the conclusion or termination of the Cold War. The missile crisis is considered the most serious episode and the most dangerous moment in the framework of hostilities, due to the fact that the Soviet government proceeded to install launching ramps in Cuba for short and medium range weapons, capable of reaching targets throughout U.S. territory.
Under the presidency of John F. Kennedy, the United States military intelligence discovered the Soviet Union's arms interests in Cuban territory, which confirmed the importance of these forces in each of the stages of the Cold War, which framed the transformation of the political decisions of the International System, due to the depth of the sovereign interests.
